Scripture: Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Today’s scripture shines a bright light on the true purpose of why Jesus came. He spoke plainly to His disciples: He didn’t come to be served, but to give His life as a ransom for many. That word “ransom” is powerful—it’s the price paid in full to set someone free. When Jesus gave His life on the cross, He erased our debt completely. He broke the chains of sin, destroyed the threat of eternal separation, crushed Satan’s power, and freed us from the old burdens of the law. That moment on the cross changed everything forever. It flung open the doors to real grace and mercy, offering true freedom to anyone who believes in Him. Jesus is extending to you the gift of peace, deep joy, and a life filled with meaning and purpose. If your heart is longing for freedom—whether in your spirit or emotions—look to the Cross. Surrender your life to Him. On the other side, you’ll find the freedom your soul has been searching for. ~ Pastor Bill

Scripture Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.”

In today’s text, Paul unveils the transformative power of authentic humility—not self-deprecation, but the deliberate choice to value others above ourselves. Consider what this looks like: offering sincere encouragement, listening intently before speaking, and serving without ulterior motives. Who better exemplifies this than Jesus himself? Despite his divinity, he chose the path of ultimate service and sacrifice. The invitation before us is clear and compelling: will we release our ego-driven agendas and embrace Christ's servant leadership model? The reward is extraordinary—the deep community connection and unity that Jesus prayed for us to experience. This shift in perspective could revolutionize not just our individual lives, but our entire community. (John 17:20-23). ~ Pastor Bill

Scripture: Ephesians 4:29: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
Here’s an inspiring thought to ponder from an anonymous source: “Say what you mean, mean what you say, and never be mean when you say it.” Isn’t that powerful? Our words hold incredible potential—they can transform lives in ways we might not even realize. They have the power to uplift spirits, ignite passions, spread love, or, unfortunately, sow seeds of discord. Proverbs 15:4 beautifully encapsulates an important truth: “The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.” This profound verse serves as a poignant reminder of the immense power and influence our words hold over ourselves and others. Let’s strive to make a conscious effort to become beacons of inspiration and encouragement in our conversations. To achieve this, we must take proactive steps! By incorporating daily practices such as reflection, journaling, and speaking affirmations, along with meditating on scripture, we can deepen our understanding of our words’ impact. Additionally, seeking accountability from trusted friends or mentors can strengthen our commitment to this transformation. As we embark on this journey together, let’s strive to elevate the quality of our dialogues. We have the potential to make our conversations not just lively but also profoundly transformative, enriching our lives and those around us.~ Pastor Bill

Scripture Proverbs 23:17-18 “Do not let your heart envy sinners, but be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day; For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off.”
I trust that God knows our every want and desire. Furthermore, I believe God is aware of how these worldly desires can lead to anxiety, depression, or divert our focus from the positive, God-centered essentials. Due to His infinite love for His people, He commanded us with "Thou shalt not covet" in the Ten Commandments. He knows that covetousness can ultimately lead us to negative behaviors like jealousy, envy, or excessive indulgence. Friends, today’s scripture reminds us to refrain from being envious of the lost. As His cherished bride, God will abundantly bless us with the positive essentials that provide value, purpose, and meaning to our lives. Let us take to heart today’s Bible passage and continue to focus on the eternal treasures that fuel our passion for serving our living, loving God. ~ Pastor Bill

Hi! We are Sutter Community Church

What We Believe

We believe:

God is the Creator and ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three personalities: the Father, m the son, and the Holy Spirit. Ther is one God in three persons.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven's glory and will return to earth again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit is Equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under His control daily.

The Bible is God’s Word to all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

Mankind is made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although people have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude separates people from God.

Salvation is by grace, through faith. It is a gift from God to all people. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. We are saved from sin’s penalty by trusting in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice as God’s offer of forgiveness. We show our faith publicly through baptism.

Eternity is how long we were created to exist with God. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is heaven. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.

The Church is the body of Christ on earth. It exists to communicate the good news of new life in Jesus Christ to the world, to teach His followers to obey His teachings, and to equip His followers for ministry. The church is made up of those who have placed their faith in Christ.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to love people one at a time enabling them to know God through a personal relationship with Christ, equipping them through spiritual growth to love others and then empowering them to reach their world for Christ

GIVING to Sutter Community Church

Tithe and Giving

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the Lord of Heaven's Armies, " I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in. Try it! Put me to the test!" Malachi 3:10

Generosity Challenge

We invite you to jump into our Generosity Challenge. Generosity is one area God says to test Him in; this challenge is a concrete way to do just that. The challenge officially starts once you start giving to God consistently in a trackable way. We believe God is after something way more valuable than your money. God is after your heart.

One Time Gift: An amount God puts on your heart.

A Percentage: A set amount based on percentage less than 10% of income.

Tithe: A set amount of 10% of your income.
